Abstract
Saccular distentions were observed in the walls of veins in the cheek pouches of hamsters at 90-120 days after induction of diabetes by treatment with alloxan. The number of vascular irregularities increased with the duration of the disease and were found to be irreversible. Similar morphological changes were observed on arterial vessels after longer periods of diabetes. Evidence is presented which may indicate that these abnormalities are an acceleration of an ageing phenomenon. Keywords
