Abstract
A recent investigation of the spectrum emitted by condensed spark discharges between metallic zirconium electrodes has revealed about 75 new lines of Zr II in the region between 10 OOOA and 4800A. Most of these lines are accounted for as combinations between previously known terms. The remaining lines have led to the discovery of a new term, here designated as 4d32D. This new term lies highest among those from the low, even electron configurations 4d2 5s, 4d3, and 4 5s2 and conforms to theoretical requirements for a 2D term of its energy and character.
