Abstract
Decision making related to life events was studied in an exploratory study with 410 elderly subjects. Age, education, income, and satisfaction with decisions made were the significant variables in perceiving life events as positive or negative, while action taking was strongly associated with well-being in old age. Implications of these findings for the self-perception of the elderly are discussed as a relevant research area for social gerontology.
