Interest in the classification of mosquitoes, probably, received its initial stimulus from the investigations of Ross (1897) on the relation between Anopheles and malaria, and those of Reed, Carroll, Agramonte and Lazear (1899), demonstrating the transmission of yellow fever by Aedes aegypti (Linn.).Keywords
