Abstract
Plane-framework procedures are presented for the analysis of plates in extension. Two different types of rectangular framework models are used to represent a rectangular element of uniform thickness in the plate. The cross-sectional properties of the beams in each model are derived by equating the deformations of the model to those of the plate element when both are subjected to identical loads. One model consists of side and diagonal beams and is directly applicable for any value of Poisson's ratio, while the other consists of orthogonally connected beams only and the effect of a non-zero value of Poisson's ratio is incorporated by successive approximations. Keywords
