Abstract
Patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) face major changes in lifestyle and the possibility of debilitating and life-threatening complications. Treatment requires a knowledgeable health care team that includes a physician, a nurse educator, other health care professionals, and the patient and family.
