Abstract
A theoretical analysis of the energy balance of apple buds and flowers is presented, showing why the temperatures of these organs are often significantly different from air temperatures. An analysis of temperature measurements, in terms of net radiation, air temperature and wind speed, yielded equations by which bud and flower temperatures could be calculated. The practical implications of these relationships are discussed. Keywords
