Abstract
Preliminary tests were carried out with several spp. of leaf feeding insects on dusted foliage in petri-dishes. The dust was applied to the foliage quantitatively in a dust settling chamber. Both mortality and amount of foliage eaten were recorded in results. Compounds giving high mortality in preliminary tests were further tested as fumigants in petri-dishes by isolating the chemicals from the insects. Toxic materials other than fumigants were suspended in water and applied to potted plants which were later caged with insects. Materials toxic in both petri-dish and cage tests were applied as sprays to truck-crop plants to check possible foliage injury. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
