Abstract
The dialysis of salt and buffer solns. results in a decrease of pH when the electronegative membrane cellophane is used. Treatment of the membrane with basic resin eliminates this decrease. The changes in pH, arising from the ion-selectivity of the membrane, are often great enough to endanger proteins or other substances which are sensitive to acid. Keywords
