Abstract
Development of a Na electrode for biological use has been described. For this, direct silvering of NAS11.-18 glass was found particularly applicable. The sensitivity of a tubular form of such a metal-connected electrode was first established using solutions run in from a burette. The electrode reads a change of 0.3 meq on 150.0 meq/L (0.2%) with negligible lag. The electrode was inserted into the arterial circulation of the rabbit and followed Na activity when this was altered either by the injection of Na or by norepinephrine. Keywords
