Abstract
Retinoids—vitamin A and its analogues—have been recognized for more than half a century to be potent agents in the control of cellular differentiation and proliferation. Only recently, however, have there been concerted efforts to exploit this observation, with particular emphasis on cancer prevention. Experimental findings of tumor inhibition and suppression are reviewed. Keywords
