Abstract
A case of embolic occlusion of a renal artery observed during aortography is presented. It is believed that the embolus originated in the catheter which contained an obturator to occlude the end-hole. While catheters with occlusion of the endhole offer advantages over open-end catheters, the presence of the obturator very likely facilitates clot formation. It is thought that these catheters should be flushed more frequently and more forcefully than those without an obturator. It is hoped that others engaged in angiography may benefit from this report and avoid similar complications of arteriography. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
