Abstract
The need in reactor-siting for an investigation into the dose-response relationship for radioiodines is discussed. The quantitative dose-response relationship found from a study of surveys of children given X-irradiation in early infancy is used to determine the dose-response relationship of radioiodine. No conclusion can be drawn about the probable form of the dose-response relationship but the tentative values assigned to the carcinogenic risk from radioiodine show that a child's thyroid is not specially radiosensitive.
