Abstract
Suitability of rabbits, chickens, rats and guinea pigs as laboratory hosts for Ornithodoros moubata (Murray, 1877) culture was investigated using egg output and nymphal development as criteria. It was observed that ticks laid more eggs when fed on rabbits and chickens than on either rats or guinea pigs. However, compared to the natural host, the warthog, these 2 were still inferior. Adults emerged after fewer nymphal instars on chickens than they did on the other 3 hosts. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
