Abstract
The spectrum of Xe VIII has been obtained using the beam-foil technique in the wavelength range 500-3000 Å. Measured wavelengths of specific hydrogenic transitions and the transitions 5f-5g are given. The hydrogenic terms are represented by the polarization formula and the core dipole polarizability of Xe VIII is derived as 0.45a03 = 0.067 Å3. With this formula the ionization limit has been determined as 854 705 ± 75 cm-1 (105.97 ± 0.02 eV).Keywords
