The oxidative rearrangement of olefins by thallium(III) acetate. Part II. Synthesis of isoflavones

Abstract
A novel synthesis of isoflavones from chalcones by use of thallium(III) acetate is reported, and the relationship of this synthesis to the biosynthesis of isoflavones is discussed. The application of this method to the syntheses of three naturally occurring isoflavones, 4′,7-dimethoxyisoflavone (X), milldurone (XIII), and lettadurone (XIV) is described.
