Acoustic-surface-wave properties of Bi 12 SiO 20 and related compounds

Abstract
Surface-wave velocities and electromechanical-coupling coefficients on the three principal planes of Bi12SiO20 are presented as a function of the propagation direction. The measured values show that Bi12SiO20 is a more useful material for acoustic-surface-wave devices than the better known Bi12GeO20. It has a higher electromechanical-coupling coefficient, so that devices made with it have a lower untuned insertion loss.
