Echinococcus Disease of the Heart

Abstract
The etiology, pathogenesis, pathology, and the clinical picture of uncomplicated and complicated echinococcus disease of the heart are discussed. Cardiac location of the larval stage of Taenia echinococcus in human beings is not an uncommon disease in sheep-grazing countries. The authors put special emphasis on the methods helping to establish the diagnosis of the condition prior to the appearance of any one of its dreaded complications, which make treatment much more difficult and prognosis considerably poorer.
