SPERMATOGENESIS IN NORMAL AND HYPOPHYSECTOMIZED FROGS (RANA TEMPORARIA), FOLLOWING GONADOTROPHIN ADMINISTRATION

Abstract
Spontaneous spermatogenesis did not occur in R. temporaria collected in Jan. or in March, nor did hypophysectomy alter testicular activity. Spermatogenic activity began after injn. of pregnant mares'' serum or frog pituitary extract into intact or hypophysectomized frogs. The March frogs were much more responsive than the January animals. Sperm release did not occur with PMS, but did occur with frog pituitary extract.
