Abstract
MINIMALLY INVASIVE surgery has revolutionized general surgery during the past 10 years. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is currently the operation of choice for symptomatic gallstone disease, and the laparoscopic approach has also been used in the management of appendicitis, hernias, gastroesophageal reflux, and numerous other disease processes.1-5 In fact, laparoscopic surgery is increasingly being used as an alternative to conventional open surgery because of several advantages over conventional open procedures: less trauma and pain, reduced hospitalization, and quicker recovery. Keywords
