Abstract
Many viruses have been associated with multiple sclerosis (MS).1,2 Among them are those from the family α-herpesvirus.3-6In Mexico, a sharp and progressive increase in the incidence of MS during the past 20 years has been reported, making this country a good location for research on etiologic factors.7 We have found varicella infection as the most significant risk factor in the medical history of patients with MS.8 Thus, the present study aimed to detect the presence of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) in patients with MS.Keywords
