Abstract
An independent method to determine the πΣΛ and πΣΣ coupling constants is presented. It is accomplished by writing a once-substracted dispersion relation for πΛ and πΣ scattering amplitudes slightly off the incidentpion mass shell and evaluating the subtraction constant at the point where Adler's consistency condition is valid. The results we obtained are gπΣΔ24π=20.9±6.7 and gπΣΣ24π=11.4±5.5, in good agreement with the earlier calculation of Chan and Meiere using a completely different method.
