Abstract
The histological study of mature fetal lungs, partially expanded due to an experimentally provoked intra-uterine anoxia, constitutes a new method of choice for the study of the pulmonary lymphatic vessels. Nineteen mature rabbit fetuses were studied in this way. Their lungs contain a plexus of lymphatic vessels in the visceral pleura, the peribronchial tissue and especially around the pulmonary arteries. Lymphatic capillaries in the connective tissue surrounding the pulmonary veins are also found, but are more scarce than around the pulmonary arteries. The existence of alveolar lymphatic vessels was not observed. Keywords
