Prostate-specific antigen density and velocity measurements in the diagnosis of prostate cancer

Abstract
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has been widely used as an adjunct to the diagnosis of prostate cancer and is being applied more frequently as the initial test in screening for this neoplasm. Because of the lack of specificity of PSA for prostate cancer, both PSA density and PSA velocity have been used. In this review, we highlight the current experience with these adjuncts to serum PSA measurement and discuss their limitations.
