Abstract
The easy axis of magnetization of amorphous Fe40Ni40P14B6 has been measured by 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy in zero external field. For T≳240 K, we find the easy axis to lie in the plane of the ribbon and to be predominantly along the long edge. At T<240 K, the easy axis, on the average, first tilts out of the ribbon plane, changing continuously with temperature, and then tilts back toward the ribbon plane at 100 K. This behavior is attributed to stresses produced thermally. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
