ÜBER DAS SENSIBILISIERUNGSVERMÖGEN NATÜRLICH VORKOMMENDER CHINONE*

Abstract
With 2–dimethylallyl–1,4–benzoquinone derived from the widespread plant Phagnalon saxatile (L.) Cass. of the mediterranean area guinea pigs could be sensitized by the open epicutaneous method. Thus, this simple benzoquinone has to be considered as a middlestrong sensitizer. Eliciting of allergic cross reactions in the sensitized guinea pigs could be achieved with 4 out of 12 different quinones (primin, deoxylapachol, thymoquinone and mansoniaquinone). The relationship between chemical structure and sensitizing capicity of these quinoid compounds is discussed. In different parts of the related species Phagnalon rupestre (L.) DC, P. sordidum (L.) Rechb. and P. atlanticum Ball, the quinone could be detected too by thin layer chromatography. From the fruits, leaves and stems of P. sordidum 0,02 % of 2–dimethylallyl-p-benzoquinone could be isolated.
