Chromatography of Lipids Containing Cyclopentenyl Fatty Acids

Abstract
Tropical plants of the family Flacourtiaceae produce seeds whose lipid constituents are rich in cyclopentenyl fatty acids (1). The major naturally occurring acids of this type are hydnocarpic (11-(2-cyclo-penten-1-yl)-undecanoic), chaulmoogric (13-(2-cyclopenten-1-yl)-tridecanoic), and gorlic (13-(2-cyclopenten-1-yl)-6-tridecenoic) acids.
