Abstract
Tropical plants of the family Flacourtiaceae produce seeds whose lipid constituents are rich in cyclopentenyl fatty acids (1). The major naturally occurring acids of this type are hydnocarpic (11-(2-cyclo-penten-1-yl)-undecanoic), chaulmoogric (13-(2-cyclopenten-1-yl)-tridecanoic), and gorlic (13-(2-cyclopenten-1-yl)-6-tridecenoic) acids. Keywords
