Abstract
The preparation of the complexes (π-C5H5)2ML2(M = Mo or W; L = SMe, SEt, OCOCF3, or OCOPh, or L2= S[CH2]2S, S[CH2]3S, SCH2·CO2, or SCHMeCO2, is described. The 1,2-dithioethane derivative of tungsten reacts with methyl iodide, benzyl chloride, allyl bromide, and mercuric chloride forming S-substituted derivatives, [(π-C5H5)2W(–SCH2·CH2·SR–)]+X–. The complex (π-C5H5)2Mo(SMe)2 reacts with methyl iodide forming the mixed complex [(π-C5H5)2MoSMe2I]+I–. All the complexes are fully characterised by analysis, i.r. and 1H n.m.r. spectra and, in some cases, mass spectra. Keywords
