Infrared–infrared double-resonance spectra of CH_3OD

Abstract
Using an acousto-optic modulator for generating a single sideband on a CO2 laser beam, we observed infrared—infrared double-resonance spectra of CH3OD. The observations have permitted full or partial assignment of several vibration—rotation—torsional transitions that correspond to near coincidences with CO2 laser lines. Some of the results confirm previous assignments of optically pumped far-infrared laser lines to this molecule, while others have permitted new assignments of far-infrared laser lines to be made. The electric dipole moment for CH3OD in the ground state has been determined. The average value is μ″a = −0.839 D.
