Abstract
This paper describes, develops and compares several viable methods for the numerical solution of one (space) dimensional, moving boundary (Stefan) problems. The methods are examined for computational efficiency and accuracy, programming complexity and ease of generalization to more than one (space) dimension, complicated moving boundary conditions, rapidly-moving boundaries and nonlinear governing equations or fixed boundary conditions. Keywords
