Abstract
Soluble iodoproteins from three congenitally goitrousthyroids have been isolated by salt fractionation followed by DEAE-cellulose chromatography, gel filtration and density gradient centrifugation and characterized by analytical ultracentrifugation, polyacrylamide electrophoresis and by immunological procedures. It has been shown that the amount of 19 S thyroglobulin is strikingly decreased, the soluble proteins consisting of several slow-sedimenting iodocompounds: (3 S-6S) not identified as any of the known thyroglobulin subunit. The immunological data suggest that some of the heterogenous 3 S-6 S fractions is related to the thyroglobulin metabolism. Keywords
