Abstract
The study was designed to determine whether the failure of previous studies to find a difference between the performance of children and adults in picture-recognition tasks might be due to the number, the selective content and the organization of the pictures used in certain studies of children. The results indicated that irrespective of age, subjects do much better on pictures that possess good figure-ground quality and further that when factors such as number, content and organization are controlled, there are effects due to age. Keywords
