Abstract
This note attempts to clarify the significance and implications to be drawn from the estimates of occupational and industrial segregation of women in Australia as recently published in this journal by Dr Donald E. Lewis. No criticism is made of Lewis's statistical work, which usefully contributes to the relevant literature. Issue is, however, taken with Lewis's application of his estimation work. Following some introductory comments, five points of criticism are considered, which lead to a re- appraisal of Lewis's conclusions.
