Abstract
To the student of insular faunas, the West Indies are of considerable interest since they represent, on the whole, a characteristic derivative of the Neotropical region, depauperate, yet presenting some peculiar features. Of this larger Antillean assemblage, the Bahamian fauna constitutes, in some respects, a particularly interesting fragment as a result of its peripheral and northern position, it being the only part of the West Indies which extends into the temperate zone. Keywords
