Abstract
AN infected urinary tract has been accepted as an inevitable complication of the indwelling urinary catheter.1 2 3 This study was undertaken to demonstrate the effect of the application of aseptic technic to the drainage system. It was assumed that bacteria migrate through the fluid in the lumen of the drainage system or through the lumen of the urethra or sinus around the catheter4 and that spread by lymphatic or hematogenous routes would be uncommon.MethodsA sterile drainage set, consisting of a piece of straight rubber or plastic tubing and a bottle with a rubber two-hole stopper and adapter, was employed. . . .Keywords
