Abstract
The accepted relation between tissue-air ratio and per cent depth-dose for photon beams generated at potentials above 400 kV requires an additional factor. It is shown that this factor arises strictly from the definitions of TAR and of peak scatter factor (ICRU, 1973). This latter factor is defined so that for zero area its value is unity, as is conceptually valid. Keywords
