Abstract
Previous studies have indicated that a PA may increase a physician's productivity by approximately 50% to 90%, depending on the type of practice. As the PA's practice became established, the number of daily patient visits tended to increase. With a 1:1 PA/MD ratio, an 80.1% increase in productivity was found. Acceptance by other clinicians, ancillary personnel, and patients was more than satisfactory.
