Abstract
The yield of alfalfa inoculated with strain A2 of R. meliloti was studied in the presence of strains AL123 of R. japonicum, FCVF2 of R. phaseoli, TL3 of R. trifolii and RL2 of R. leguminosarum. None of these 4 Rhizobium spp. significantly affected the alfalfa yield after 2 mowings. The presence of strains FCVF2 and RL2 in the inoculum lowered alfalfa yield while the presence of strains AL123 and TL3 produced a better yield and also eliminated the harmful effect of the first 2 strains. This synergism may be attributed in part to the production of metabolites stimulating strain A2 and inhibiting the growth of strains FCVF2 and RL2.This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
