Abstract
Some 'spontaneous' tumours of laboratory rodents may be due to carcinogenic constituents of wood shavings used as bedding. The recent finding that the p-0-methyl derivative of sinapaldehyde and 2,6-dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone are carcinogenic for the rat may implicate the α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds present in wood lignins. Keywords
