Abstract
Studies around the world are demonstrating that low-birthweight children are significantly overrepresented among the mentally subnormal later in life and also that children from areas where malnutrition is endemic perform less well on tests of intellectual capacity than those more auspiciously circumstanced. Given the corresponding malnutrition of their mothers, the question becomes: Can the vicious circle be broken? Keywords
