Sensor fusion algorithms for the detection of land mines

Abstract
This paper reports on selection of suitable sensor fusion techniques for use in hand carried and vehicle mounted mine detection systems for HOM-2000. Various techniques like Bayes, Dempster-Shafer, voting logic and neural networks are considered. Guidelines for selection of an appropriate fusion level are formulated. Experimental data are presented to illustrate the advantages that can be obtained through the use of sensor fusion.© (1999) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
