Abstract
A micro-method for the determination of pen-toses, free and combined, is descr., and the conditions under which max. yields may be obtained are discussed. By this method the furfuraldehyde yields from the purine nucleotidea of muscle are found to be much higher than those obtained by the usual steam-distillation method from a HCl reaction mixture.
