Abstract
The effects of correlations in deposition processes of sandpile-avalanche models are investigated numerically. Simulations are carried out for two models, a weight model and a minimum model. It becomes evident that in the presence of correlations, critical exponents associated with lifetime and avalanche-size distributions vary continuously with changing a parameter, and universality does not hold. The breakdown of power-law behavior and self-organized criticality due to strong correlations is also demonstrated. Keywords
