Large Deflection Analysis of Heated Plates

Abstract
An analytical method is presented for analyzing rectangular plates heated in their midplane and subject to deflections beyond the small deflection realm. The method accounts for elastically constrained plate boundaries and allows the prediction of membrane stresses, deflections, and buckling temperatures for various heating conditions, loading conditions, and various plate sizes. Results for specific cases of heating and edge constraint are presented both analytically and in the form of curves.
