Abstract
Fruit stored in polyethylene case liners develops a modified storage atmosphere which may prolong the storage life of the fruit. The physical principles underlying the production of these atmospheres axe discussed and it is shown that the very variable oxygen level in these atmospheres, which has been reported by a number of workers, is an inherent feature of this storage technique. Keywords
