Abstract
Mössbauer spectra have been obtained for bcc Fe alloys containing up to 25-at.% Ga in solid solution. The spectra have been analyzed in a manner which permits the study of the effect of configuration on the hyperfine magnetic field and on the isomer shift with very few prior assumptions. Various assumptions commonly made in handling data of this type have been examined in detail and their validity tested. The details of 16 different configurations are presented along with an empirical formula to describe the hyperfine field as a function of configuration and concentration. Keywords
