Abstract
The history of the naming of Isospora spp. from the house sparrow P. domesticus is described in the light of modern knowledge, which shows that the correct host for I. lacazei is not the house sparrow but the goldfinch Carduelis carduelis. The species in the house sparrow is named I. passeris sp. nov. The species in the chaffinch Fringilla coelebs is I. rivoltai (Labbe 1893) comb. nov emend (Diplospora rivoltae). A list is given of the 60 spp. of Isospora named from passerine birds. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
