Abstract
This paper addresses the extent to which the governmental authorities on the national and international level have the capacity to deal with the more varied and complex management tasks in Norwegian waters. By and large the responsible agencies have succeeded fairly well in handling the inter‐use conflicts in national waters and the maritime relations towards neighboring countries. The management tasks have generally not been very complex, however, mainly due to the small Norwegian population and the large ocean areas under Norwegian jurisdiction. Keywords
