Abstract
The Loewus anthrone method using the reagent dissolved in ethyl acetate was adapted for making carbohydrate determinations in saliva-foodstuff mixtures. Aging of reagent for 90 days introduced negligible errors. Controlled heating and cooling of samples improved accuracy considerably. A Ringbom plot established the range of maximum accuracy at 20-60[mu]g/ml. Methods of obtaining representative aliquots of foodstuff suspensions are given. Keywords
