Abstract
Setting aside the question of primitive democracy, we can observe that a democratic political system is always symbiotic with a market mechanism. Furthermore, the breadth and depth of democracy is also in correspondence with the degree of completion and perfection of the market mechanism. On giving this more thought, we may speculate that perhaps this connection between democracy and the market is not inorganic or accidental. The following factors may, perhaps, be used to explain the interconnection between the formation of the market and the creation and healthy operation of a democratic political system.
